Every fan has a list of songs that matter to them. This page collects the background to some of the best-known ones — who wrote them, where they were first performed and why they stuck. We describe songs; we never reproduce their lyrics.
"Pušti me" (1997)
His MakFest entry in 1997 and one of the first songs that made Macedonian radio take notice of the teenager from Kruševo.
"Usni na usni" (1998)
Written by Grigor Koprov and Ognen Nedelkovski and performed at Ohrid Troubadours, where it won second prize from the jury. The beginning of the partnership that shaped his first two albums.
"Tajno moja"
The song he sang at the Slavic Bazaar festival in Belarus, after which, as sources put it, he became known to the international public.
"Čija si" (2003)
By Leontina Vukomanović and Željko Joksimović. It won Beovizija in Belgrade in April 2003 and became a hit across the former Yugoslav countries even though it never went to Eurovision.
"Angel si ti" / "Life" (2004)
Macedonia's Eurovision entry. He sang the English version in Istanbul and finished 14th. Read more on the Eurovision page.

"Za ovoj svet" (2004)
Written by Mladen Marković and Vesna Malinova and recorded when he became a national UNICEF ambassador. It became the UNICEF anthem in Macedonia.
"Krajnje vreme"
A duet with the Slovene singer Anja Rupel, recorded as he expanded into Croatia and Slovenia.
"Srce nije kamen" (2006)
Recorded in Croatian as the opening theme of the Croatian soap opera Zabranjena ljubav, with lyrics by Antonija Šola. He also appeared in one episode of the series.
"Macedonia Cheers for You" (2007)
A fan anthem by Aleksandar Mitevski, known in English-language sources as "Macedonia Cheers for You". It has been performed before Macedonian sports matches, which gives it an unusual afterlife: crowds can hear his voice at the stadium that now bears his name.
From the last album
The 2007 album Igra bez granica produced several hits throughout the region; English-language sources list three of them as "Cherish", "Games Without Borders" and "Are You Happy". For many fans these are the songs of that final autumn.
