The Memorial House
The most visited memorial is the cross-shaped museum in Kruševo, which won the People's Choice Award at the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona. Its management reported more than 600,000 visitors by 2018 and more than 700,000 within ten years. See our Memorial House page.
Everyday tributes
Not every tribute is official. A memorial fountain stands on a children's street named after him in the Aerodrom district of Skopje. In Kruševo a cherry tree was planted in his honour at the Nikola Karev school. And every 25 January since his death, Mile Stojkoski has made a marathon journey in his wheelchair from Prilep to the grave in Kruševo.
Not everything is praised
The 2021 statue in Nova Gradiška drew criticism from locals on social media, many of whom felt it did not look like him. Memorials are made by people, and fans disagree about them — that is part of an honest record too.
